Uncle Sam, Fortune Teller

"No one particular could have predicted…"
Some of our government officials act clueless when it comes to predicting worst situation scenarios and planing for disasters.
No one could have predicted:
9/11 – Al-Qaeda flying planes into buildings.
The high expense in lives and treasure resulting from war in Iraq.
Hurricanes like Katrina can occur in the Gulf and levees can fail leaving thousands stranded with out food, shelter, transportation, medical care, energy, water or solutions.
If Wall Street becomes an unregulated casino for the elite constructed on astronomical leverage it can go bust and wreck the planet economic climate.
Oil wells a mile below the ocean can fail and harm the ecosystem for generations. Specifically when you do not have valid testing, redundant systems, back-up plans for your back-up plans, and minute by minute disaster recovery plans.
And on and on and on.
They use this excuse to cover up their intentional lack of arranging, oversight, regulation, enforcement and their wholesale dependence on expense skimming corporate contractors. It is their preferred outcome to have government be observed as a failure to weaken our democracy and strengthen corporate interests. Government involvement is characterized as interference by big government. So they legislate government out of any role except check signer and insurer of final resort.
Either Winston Churchill or Alan Lakein mentioned "Failing to plan is arranging to fail."
Government planing is investigation, legislation, law, regulations, action, oversight and enforcement. Tiny government has small room for any of these niceties.
The existing so referred to as Market place Fundamentalist Small Government Neocon Pseudo Libertarians use law to rig the method as a money machine for significant corporate interests. These hidden costs, bailouts, and subsidies serve to enhance the energy and influence of the wealthy while undermining the regular citizens’ faith in government and minimizing funds accessible to "promote the general welfare."
The strategy is to fail and the plan is succeeding.
